Charlie bowls league at Brunswick Gilbert XL in the Construction Men's league. After bowling against VBS's own Josh Blanchard in the league he decided to come give us a try. We watched him bowl a little and talked about what he wanted to see out of his new bench mark ball. We decided to go with a Columbia 300 Antics with a 65* x 4.5 x 40* layout. For Charlie's style the ball gave him an aggressive but smooth and predictable ball motion.
Johnny Wing and Don Caron are long time friends and considered to be not only great bowlers, but some of the best senior bowlers the town has to offer. As always, when you get the honor to drill for guys that have more 300 games then just about everyone in the city, you feel pretty privileged. It was a very exciting moment in the Bob Brown classic senior league when the two, which are on the same team, both bowled 300 on the same game at the same time!
Rusty's story was a pretty impressive one. He should really have multiple achievement posts, but he had so many in such a short period of time that we just had to put them together in one post. Rusty has always been a great bowler so we were excited to be able to drill a ball for him. The first thing he wanted to try was our advertised oval thumb specialty. We dialed up his thumb measurements on our digital gauges and drilled his oval thumb right on the press.
Alexis Atkin is a very well known and accomplished female bowler on the west side of town. We are very grateful that she drives so far to come see us. We were very excited when we heard that she bowled her first ever 300 game with a Roto Grip disturbed that we drilled her. The ball wasn't finishing the way she wanted at first, so we suggested polishing it to help the ball store energy further down the lane. It happened to work well for her and she bowled her first ever 300 game!
George Dayton has been working on his game quite a bit since moving to Arizona from the east coast. He didn't get to bowl on a lot of sport patterns on the east coast, but was very excited to be in an area that demanded more versatility. He struggled at first on the sport patterns but has recently shown that there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
Derek Acuff or mini Ciminelli as we call him (he throws it a lot like PBA's Ryan Ciminelli). He is an upcoming young start with a ton of talent. He is a lefty with quite a bit of speed and power that is really starting to make a name for himself. He is from the west side of town, so we were excited to know he was willing to make the drive to come see us. We had drilled a a few balls in the last couple months for him including a Storm Marvel S, IQ Pearl, and Marvel Pearl.
Donald Snodgrass came in and picked up a Columbia 300 enigma as one of our first customers since we opened. Don bowls a couple nights a week but hasn't had a 300 in quite some time. After watching him bowl and laying out the ball specifically for his style, he was ready to go. Don came out throwing a blistering 22 of 24 strikes in his Wednesday morning league. This included a 300 game and a 750+ series! This was a big accomplishment and we were excited to be a part of it with Don.
